Ever since I can remember I have wanted a pony and loved things that dealt with darkness and death. So after reading Neil Gaiman’s “Sandman” series, I decided to go for it and get a tattoo inspired by the character Death, My Little Ponies, and Death, as in the four horseman of the apocalypse.
The original sketch, which was almost perfect.
Perfect meaning minus the breast cancer looking symbol on the pony’s butt. I had told him I wanted an ankh, which is the Egyptian symbol for life, not cancer awareness. It is the symbol Death wears on her throughout “Sandman”.
It took about four tries to lay comfortably enough to actually do this properly.
If you know me at all you know I love the colour purple with a burning passion. I suppose you could say it’s my favourite colour. So picking the main colour for the pony itself was easy.
Having never gotten a colour tattoo before, I must say that it is particularly more painful than black and grey tattoos. Don’t know if I’ll ever get anything in colour after this. Yay for my first “just because” tattoo!
